Death
Death
As the only thing we can be absolutely certain of in this life, death is extremely underrated. We come into this world, the great unknown. We have no idea about any of it, we don’t know where we came from, why we’re here, where we’re going, how long we’ve got to stay, where we’ll go afterwards, what should we strive to leave behind, if we’ll be coming back. None of it. The only thing we can be certain of is that one day, our life will end, when death comes. And for all our fear of the one thing that should comfort and console us, death gets a very bad rap. No that we should pursue death. A lot of effort has gone into us being here and just because we don’t know all the details doesn’t mean we should not appreciate all that hard work. The soul choosing to come, getting permission to come, the mission, the challenges, the preparation…. And then we’re flung into the great unknown, our memories erased, and we falter, terrified of that other place we’ve just come from.
Of course, fear of death is baked into who and what we are, without it we wouldn’t survive very long. So, our fear of death keeps us alive, to some extent, but at the same time, that fear of death often stops us from truly living. Fear of death, the two -edged sword, that sword we fear may smite us down at any moment.
A longing for death or a longing to cause the death of others or any life at all, is of course a recipe to get our own life cut short and be sent back to start. But a healthy respect for the only thing that for many people makes life truly bearable, if rightly considered, should be a requirement for the extension of life.
